Terrasse d'Elise

Domaine de la Terrasse d’Elise has established itself as one of the finest references of the Languedoc. Xavier Braujou doesn’t adhere to the AOC system as he believes that it contributes to standardizing wines. His monovarietal cuvées show incredible finesse thanks to an “hands off” approach to vinifications. We highly recommend all of the domain’s cuvées!

Xavier Braujou has been running the family-owned Terrasse d'Elise domain since 1998. Keeping quality as his constant watchword, he has chosen to reduce yields dramatically (to around 20 hl/ha) and to work with old grape varieties. In particular, he has opted for certain cuvées to work with single varieties, showcasing his Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvèdre grapes – too often considered only as grapes for blending. Although not certified, the vineyard is run according to organic and biodynamic principles.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE

Tastings here are always memorable, though those who prefer power over delicacy should look elsewhere. Only small quantities are produced; a truly coveted gem.

Year in, year out, Xavier Braujou shows that it’s possible to make fine monovarietal wines in the Languedoc. An absolute must, prized by seasoned wine lovers, sommeliers and wine shops.
