Côte Roannaise Domaine Domaine des Pothiers 2021

The wine

If you are not familiar with the wines of Côte Roannaise, now is the moment to enjoy this fine example grown using biodynamic methods. This complex cuvée exudes fruity and spicy notes and reveals a wonderful tannic structure. To do so, the domain has carefully vinified its old Gamay Saint-Romain vines from granitic soils. This involves destemming at 2/3, a 12-day maceration interspersed with some punching down and, finally, aging from 8 to 12 months in concrete vats and truncated conical wooden vats.

About the Producer Domaine des Pothiers

This is an unmissable domain that has been making a name for itself in recent years. Far from prestigious sites of the Loire, Romain Paire has made it his mission to lift the Côte Roannaise to the heights of the region. His father developed the domain in the 1970s. When he arrived in 2005, he decided to renovate the winery and convert the 10 hectares of vines to organic and biodynamic viticulture. His wines are sought-after for their structure and balance.
