An excellent Puligny-Montrachet, with remarkable structure, great persistence on the palate and considerable freshness.
More infoThis exquisite Puligny-Montrachet ‘Les Tremblots’, produced from a small parcel of vines, some planted in 1930, seduces with its racy elegance and sharp character. Driven by a fine acidity, it follows a royal path all the way to a long, ethereal finish. Situated to the south-west of Puligny-Montrachet, this splendid parcel lies at the bottom of a slope of soft limestone and white marl, close to the famous Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. Hubert Lamy tends his vines with loving, environmentally friendly practices.
After a meticulous vinification process, the wine is matured in 600-litre casks, before being transferred to vats for 22 months to retain the natural tension and purity. In the glass, it reveals floral and mineral refinement, concentrated and generous with ripe fruit. On the palate, ample and silky, it exudes fruit and citrus, wrapped in a velvety texture. The chalky, peppery finish beautifully frames the fruit, offering an incredible experience.
The ageing potential is evident, and a few years in the cellar will allow you to fully savour its splendour. This wine is a marvellous partner for delicate seafood dishes, enhancing the taste experience.
About the Producer Hubert Lamy
With 18.5 hectares spread over six appellations (which includes the Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru), Olivier Lamy – who runs the estate – is one of the best ambassadors of the Saint-Aubin appellation, which is sadly not well known and produces a superb alternative to Chassagne wines. These wines are perfectly pure, taut and elegant thanks to the carefully ageing work.
The Lamy family has been working in Saint-Aubin since the mid-17th century, about 1640. It was Hubert Lamy, Olivier’s father, who created the estate in 1973 with eight hectares of vines. The property grew in the 1990s before Olivier Lamy joined his father in 1995 after finishing his studies in wine and undertaking several apprenticeships to understand wine better. Father and son bridge the worlds of tradition and innovation together before Hubert passed away in 2022 at the age of 79.
In the vineyard as in the winery, the work is carried out meticulously following organic principals (non-certified). The different terroirs, which are densely planted to concentrate the grapes, are vinified separately in 600-litre barrels (with very little new wood). A not-to-be-missed estate in the Côte de Beaune!
