The wine

A single cask Cambus (#DL13461) distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2019. Douglas Laing was founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, primarily as a blending company but also as an independent bottler, with the latter activity becoming increasingly prominent over the years. When Fred Douglas Laing died in 1982, his two sons Fred and Stewart took over the business. Stewart left in 2013 to set up Hunter Laing. Douglas Laing is today managed by Fred Laing and his daughter Cara. The whiskies in the Extra Old Particular (XOP) range are bottled at cask strength or just below, without filtration or artificial colouring. A limited edition of 312 bottles.

About the Producer Cambus

Cambus is a Scottish distillery founded in 1806 in Alloa in the Lowlands of Scotland. Initially equipped to produce malt, it became a grain distillery in 1836 when then owner John Moubray installed a pair of Stein patent stills. The installation of a Coffey still in 1851 further reinforced the distillery’‘s desire to produce a high-quality grain whisky. In 1877, it was one of the founding distilleries of DCL (now Diageo). It was mothballed on several occasions before permanently closing its doors in 1993.
