Finesse, richness and delicacy perfectly sum up the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Clos des Lunelles – greatly appreciated by international critics. More info
Clos des Lunelles’s vines are situated on the Sainte Colombe plateau at the peak of the Côtes de Castillon and produce wine within the Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux AOC. Merlot, Cabernet-Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon vines are green harvested and then leaf-stripped twice over the summer to allow more sunlight and heat to reach the grapes. The grapes are then hand-picked and meticulously sorted. The first fermentation takes place in thermoregulated vats. A second, malolactic fermentation is carried out in oak barriques. The wine is then raised for a year and a half to two years before bottling. This cuvée is a true success and has seduced the likes of Robert Parker and Bernard Burtschy who laud its delicate yet rich character and the finesse of its tannins.
Clos Lunelles serve at a temperature of 16°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Hachis Parmentier, Fricassée de girolles, Feuilleté de ris de veau aux cèpes.
Peak: Drink until 2025
What the experts say...
"Rich, concentrated, full-bodied and very much in the progressive style of Perse wines, the 2012 Clos les Lunelles is inky ruby/purple and offers crushed rock minerality, blackcurrants and blackberry fruit, full-bodied opulence and remarkable density and richness. The tannins are present, but sweet and well-integrated." R. Parker (04/2015)

Clos Lunelles is located on clay and limestone hillsides, grown with Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Bought by Gérard Perse in 2001, it was formerly known as Château Lapeyronie. The vines are farmed with the aim of producing low yields and concentrated grapes. His gamble paid off, and the wines have been lauded by leading professionals.
