Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret today uses, in the purest Burgundy tradition, a wide vineyard, extending over the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, and covering the most prestigious villages (Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits Saint Georges and Savigny les Beaune). The heart of the farm remains in Vosne-Romanée. Vincent Mongeard, Jean's son, strives not only to maintain and enhance the family heritage, but also to expand as soon as an opportunity arises, to expand the domain’s range. The farm currently has about 30 hectares, spread over 33 appellations producing white Burgundys and aligotés but also, and mainly, red wines from the best districts of the Côte. The vineyard is located mid-slope, south-east facing, on clay-limestone soil. This domain produces beautiful cuvées, classy and delicate, with superb velvety textures.
This cuvée is aged in 30 to 40% new barrels. Typical of its appellation, it is full-bodied and robust, slightly austere but well balanced, offering a very fine length.
Nuits Saint-Georges Mongeard-Mugneret (Domaine) serve at a temperature of 16°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Faisan rôti, Pigeon en cocotte et petits pois, Canard aux cerises.
