The Rossignol-Trapet domain is lucky enough to own all the parcels on the slopes (all the Route des Grand Crus up to the woods). Consequently, their Chambertin is situated at the heart of the Chambertin terroir and perfectly reflects the local terroir. Legend has it that there was a wine grower called Bertin at Gevrey who owned a parcel next to Clos de Bèze. Inspired by the monks' experiences and success, he decided to plant the same variety of vines (hence the name Chambertin or 'champ de Bertin'). Produced on slightly over 13 hectares, Chambertins are great red wines: fine and racy, with a deep colour and an exceptional nose. It is thought that, along with the Corsican wines, these were Napoleon's favourite!

Chambertin Grand Cru Domaine Rossignol-Trapet serve at a temperature of 16°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Canard, Filet de boeuf à la truffe, Perdrix rôties à l étouffée de lentilles du Puy.

    Information about domain Rossignol-Trapet

The Rossignol-Trapet wine property was established through the alliance of two families, the Rossignols and the Trapets, who were both winemakers in Burgundy (the Rossignols at Volnay, since the 16th century and the Trapets at Gevrey-Chambertin since the 18th century). Nicolas and David Rossignol have been running the Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, situated at Gevrey-Chambertin, since 1990. They own vineyards in the renowned villages of Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune and of course Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, they use traditional methods which are backed up by new technical and biological knowledge. David and Nicolas strive to maintain high standards in their vineyards to ensure a healthy and quality harvest each year. Since 2004 all the vines are cultivated using biodynamics.
