A great wine for keeping, this Saint-Joseph subtly blends smooth creaminess and lingering minerality. More info

Made of Marsanne and Roussanne, this white Saint-Joseph is a beautiful example of this style, which however represents only 9% of the appellation’s production. Its golden straw hue reveals a rather fragrant and delicate aromatic bouquet. There are notes of fruit (apricot and yellow peach) and white flowers. The palate subtly blends creaminess and minerality. To make this wine from a granitic terroir, the domain triggered malolactic fermentation on the lees in oak barriques and demi-muids. Aged for 10 months in the same containers, it keeps easily for fifteen years in the cellar.

Saint-Joseph Monteillet (Domaine du) - Stéphane Montez serve at a temperature of 12°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Sole meunière, Bricks de Saint Marcellin au thym et noisettes hachées, Salade de la mer aux Saint-Jacques.

    Information about domain Monteillet

The domaine du Monteillet has belonged to the Villard family for no less than 5 centuries and nine generations! The family’s most well-known member is Louis Hector, duke of Villard and Louis XIV’s Marshall of France (1653-1734). Stéphane Montez has been running the property since 1997, having travelled the world to work in all sorts of different vineyards. His experience in the four corners of the world allowed him to develop new techniques in the family property and to respond to potential climatic difficulties. The vineyard is spread over 14 hectares and three appellations (Côte Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Condrieu).
