  • This champagne is a blend of three grape varieties. It comes from 7 villages on the southern slopes of Epernay and the Marne valley, and contains 40% of reserve wine. 20% of alcoholic fermentation is carried out in vats, another 20% in foudre casks and 60% in oak barrels, with a partial malolactic fermentation followed by élevage on the lees for about 6 months. The dosage is around 7-8g/l. The result is a champagne with a complex aromatic palette: fruity, floral, buttery, spicy and slightly salty at the same time. The palate is full bodied, balanced, fresh, mineral and full of flavour, ending with a very elegant finish.

This illustrious champagne house was founded in 1889 and is currently run by the fifth and sixth generations of the Laherte family. Thierry and his son Aurélien manage the company’s 11 hectares of vineyards on the Côte de Blancs, the southern slopes of Epernay and in the Marne Valley with flair. Laherte Frères is one of those rare houses still growing some of the Champagne region's forgotten grape varieties, namely Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Petit Meslier and Arbanne which all go into Les 7 along with the three classic varieties. The vineyards are propagated using massal selection and the majority of champagnes are vinified in wood. The élevage is particularly well executed and precise without going over the top. Malolactic fermentation is often avoided. This vineyard produces excellent, flavoursome de terroir champagnes with a strong personality. They are particularly popular with connoisseurs and critics.
