Rarity alert - a distinguished and concentrated Barbaresco from a tiny vineyard parcel. More info

This wine hails from a historic vineyard in the heart of the Barolo appellation. After manual harvesting, fermentation with natural yeasts, and prolonged maceration with the cap of solids (70 to 90 days), the wine has been aged in oak barrels for 5 years. We would strongly recommend laying it down for a few years so that it can develop its purity and aromatic freshness. Although it is fruity on the palate, it develops pronounced minerality and mentholated notes. Its silkiness and long delicate finish mark it out as a classy and expressive gem.

Barbaresco DOCG Montefico Vieilles Vignes Roagna serve at a temperature of 16°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Terrine de chevreuil, Manchons de canard au barbecue, Navarin de mouton.

Information about domain Roagna

The Roagna family owns a historic domaine in the village of Barbaresco in the Piedmont. It began producing dry wines circa 1880, when the region was the area of choice for northern Italian sweet wine makers. The domaine was extended in 1989, and now also produces Barbarescos and Barolos. Luca, who has a diploma in oenology, made his first vintage in 2001. He is keen on long, gentle extractions which he believes are appropriate for the Nebbiolo grape variety. Sulphur is used sparingly at less than 35 mg/l, and the domaine is run along organic lines, even though it is not formally certified.
