For his red wine, former Cloudy Bay winemaker, Kevin Judd, chose the Pinot Noir grape to express the terroir of the Greywacke estate in Marlborough. Drink this opulent and fresh wine in its youth! More info

The vines which produce the Pinot Noir cuvée are planted on slopes of cool clay soil, and enjoy the benefits of proximity to the ocean. After fermentation with native yeasts, the wine is matured in barrique barrels for around 12 months. These young vines, planted around fifteen years ago, produce an indulgent wine, bursting with fruit, which can be enjoyed young. The bouquet is oaky, exuding light aromas of small black berries combined with scents of undergrowth. It has a pleasant freshness in the mouth and an ethereal yet structured profile. The finish reveals its smoky character, leaving a persistent impression in the mouth of cocoa beans, with a hint of bitterness.

Marlborough Greywacke Pinot Noir serve at a temperature of 16°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Poulet rôti, Champignons farcis, Rillettes du Mans.

Information about domain Greywacke

Kevin Judd was the first winemaker in the famous Cloudy Bay area. His role as precursor has made him a reference point in terms of style for the wines of the Malborough region. He has also contributed to raising the reputation of these wines which have a nice minerality, the right acidity and an exuberant aromatic expression. By founding Greywacke in 2009, Kevin and Kimberley Judd realized a life-long dream of theirs. Located in Malborough, the northernmost point of the South Island of New Zealand, Greywacke's vineyard has the perfect climate: in one of the sunniest places on the planet, it is sheltered from the rain by the Richmond Ranges. Greywacke's name comes from the pebbles which are a part of the geological composition of the region. The domain works to achieve the perfect ripeness, with a different vision for each parcel, as the domain is scattered throughout the region. The two main varieties and Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Noir.
