Bien que n'étant pas aussi profond que son aîné d'un an, le 1994 est épicé, légèrement corsé et très structuré, avec des tannins agressifs. Ces derniers ne sont cependant pas étayés par un caractère suffisamment fruité et profond. Source : Robert Parker (1/97)
Twenty year-old vines and traditional vinification produce fruity, round and easy-to-drink wines. The bouquet has blackberry and raspberry aromas with a graphite note.
Château Croizet-Bages, like many other Pauillac wines, is located on the famous Bages plateau. In 1853, two years before the renowned 1855 classification, Château Croizet-Bages became the property of the Calvé family, leading to a slight change in the name, to Château Calvé Croizet-Bages, which the property kept until 1934. After that, Paul Quié acquired the château, which has since remained in the same family. The vineyard went through a long restructuring phase that lasted about 20 years. Up until the harvest in 1986, there was just one old concrete vat. Since then a new winery has been built in order to improve the quality of the vinification process. Paul Quié's descendants also own Château Rauzan-Gassies, a second growth in Margaux, and Château Bel-Orme-Tronquoy-de-Lalande.
