Cuvée presentation

The different grapes in this cuvée are cultivated sustainably on a terroir of limestone and clay, with a high proportion of limestone. The berries are harvested by hand and fermented in cement tanks, and the wine is then aged for almost two years in oak foudres. The result is a complex and intense wine with notes of leather and game encircling the dark fruit aromas. It is superb after a few years in the cellar and served with full-flavoured meats.

Information about domain Château Pradeaux

The history of Château Pradeaux dates back to 1752 when Jean-Marie-Etienne Portalis, lawyer and co-creator of the Civil Code, bought the property. Nine generations later, Etienne Portalis carries the family heritage with him all whilst moving with the times. He has thus undertaken a conversion to organic growing and is looking into older grape varieties that might better resist the climate crisis. A veritable institution in Provence, particularly in Bandol, Château Pradeaux puts Mourvèdre at centre stage, the landmark grape variety taking up 95% of the 19 hectares of vines. Originally from Spain, it is said that this grape flourishes with its roots in the water and tis head in the sunshine. The domain’s soils are largely composed of clay and chalk, offering the vine an exceptional water reserve during the heat of summer. The rosés, unmatched in their style, have a wonderful mouthfeel and certain vintages have a lovely vinosity. The reds have a dense texture, a superb colour and an ageing potential of several decades.
