    Cuvée presentation

The vines used to produce this wine are around 40 years old and they grow in a terroir of pebbles, sand and soil in Pessac. The vineyard is worked traditionally always with the goal to improve production. This wine’s distinguishing feature is its proportion of Merlot and Cabernet France (40% and 50% respectively), a blend rarely seen on the left bank. The resulting cuvée is rich, dense and harmonious. It has a deep, ruby colour, and its palate is ripe, full and flavoursome. It has a long ageing potential of around 20 years, and will pair wonderfully with red meat dishes.

Information about domain Château les Carmes Haut-Brion

Château les Carmes Haut Brion is located, like its neighbours, Châteaux Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion, on Graves' famous plateau, in Pessac, as you leave Bordeaux to the south-west. From 1584 to 1789 it was owned by Carmelite monks, who established the wine's reputation. During the French Revolution it was declared a national asset and sold at auction. For more than a hundred years it was owned by the Chantecaille family. Illustrated by the inauguration of its new cellar signed by Starck, Les Carmes Haut Brion clearly shows its ambition since it was bought in 2010 by Patrice Pichet and his wife Diane. It is perhaps the most dynamic property of Pessac-Léognan in recent years. This unclassified growth is totally unusual, particularly because of its share of Cabernet Franc in its blend (45%). The wine is now sublime and ripe. A growth to follow very closely by the amateurs.
