Puissant, complexe et élégant, le châteauneuf-du-pape du domaine Charvin est une référence absolue en termes d'élégance. A découvrir rapidement... si ce n'est pas déjà fait ! More info
At Domaine Charvin, soils are ploughed mechanically. Yields are limited to increase the concentration of berries. Various grape varieties are blended (Grenache, Syrah, Vaccarèse and Mourvèdre), macerated for a long time and fermented in concrete vats with daily pump-over. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape was aged in wood. Its beautiful purple hue with violet highlights, its bouquet of ripe black fruit and spices and its harmonious palate with a long finish mean it is a highly elegant wine.
In the southern Rhône lies Domaine Charavin. The estate’s 32 hectares are managed by the 6th generation of the family and produces wines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations. Syrah and Grenache account for 90% of the vineyard, the rest being planted to Vaccaèse and Mourvèdre. The average age of vines is 45 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and 35 (Côtes-du-Rhône). They cultivated according to traditional methods and the grapes are harvested by hand; Yields are limited to 30hl/ha for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 50hl/ha for the Côtes du Rhône. Vinifications are also traditional with no destemming or filtration. The domain produces, on average, 100,000 bottles a year.
