Riesling Scharzhofberger Eiswein Egon Muller serve at a temperature of 6°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Bleu d'auvergne, Tapas divers, Terrine de saumon.
Cette cuvée est un vin de glace, monocépage de riesling. Cela signifie que les vendanges ont été réalisées tardivement vers décembre lors des gelées (à -8°C en 2016 par exemple). Ce vin est issu du domaine allemand Egon Muller dont les traces remontent à 1797. Le vignoble s'étend sur 20,5 hectares entre 190 et 310 mètres d'altitude avec un encépagement exclusif de riesling et une exposition plein Sud.
Récoltés gelés donc, les raisins dont la peau est solide et la pulpe gelée, sont encuvés. La vinification est classique, en vieux foudres. A la dégustation ce vin dévoile une robe jaune citron dans sa jeunesse tirant vers un or acajou dans sa vieillesse. Le bouquet est séduisant avec des notes complexes de miel, mangue, agrumes confits, acacia, coing, épices douces (cannelle, poivre, cardamone). La bouche est exceptionnelle avec une sucrosité aérienne et une belle acidité. La finale persistante est pleine de tension. Un équilibre exceptionnel qui nous convainc bien de la grandeur de ce vin.
The story began in Germany in 1797, in the Mosel Saar Ruwer region close to the Luxembourg frontier, when Jean-Jacques Koch bought the Scharzhof farm from the French government. He built what is still the domaine's cellar to this day. The vines from the Scharzhofberg vineyard had already grown, but they belonged to a monastery at the time. When the adjoining land was occupied by French Revolutionary troops, the church was stripped of its estates. Jean-Jacques Koch was able to reclaim the vineyard and the domaine was born. When he died, his daughter Elisabeth, wife of Felix Müller, inherited the land. Several purchases and inheritances meant that the couple was able to double the size of their domaine in the 1850s. Their son Egon Müller Ist inherited the domaine. His ambition was to establish its credentials. He therefore took part in the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. One generation followed another right down to Egon Müller IV, son of Egon Müller III, and the current owner of the domaine. Today, the Egon Müller domaine is one of the most highly reputed in Germany and a truly iconic Saar vineyard, whose wines change hands for colossal sums. This family vineyard located in Wiltingen comprises eight and a half hectares on the schist soils of the Scharzhofberg hill, with a due south exposition and very steep slopes at an altitude ranging from 200 to 300 metres above sea level. The vineyard is planted exclusively with Riesling grapes, with a few very old non-grafted vines.
