Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is made using only native yeasts and is aged for 14 months in oak barrels (30% new). On the nose, it reveals gorgeous, slightly acidic aromas of nicely ripened red and black fruit. There is concentration on the palate, fine balance and absolutely delicious fruity flavours. A long-lasting finish reveals subtle spicy notes. A wine that teams beautifully with venison or other game.
"Être sobre, c'est boire bon”, or “Being sobre is drinking well ". This is the Domaine's motto, written on the label. It perfectly summarises the hedonistic spirit of these wines, full, concentrated, fruity but which are delicate and fine. The domaine was founded in 1954 following the marriage of Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot. Vincent Geantet now works in tandem with his son. The domaine based in Gevrey now has 13 hectares in villages, premier crus, and in Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin as well as its plots in Chambolle and Clos-de-Vougeot. It is a reliable and safe bet of the Côte de Nuits. Vincent's daughter, Émilie Geantet, is developing a parallel trading business.
