    The wine

Pommard, along with Chablis, has the privilege of figuring among the most renowned Burgundy appellations overseas. Victor Hugo was particularly fond of Pommard, which grows in clay-limestone ferruginous soil. Pommard is a well-structured, tannic wine with multiple aromas evoking blackcurrant, plum, pepper and leather. Designed for a long cellaring, this wine is undoubtedly one of the strongest Burgundy crus.

Information about domain Château de Pommard

The Château de Pommard is today the largest private vineyard in Côte de Beaune. In just one piece, these 20 hectares of vines, surrounded by a two-metre high stone wall, are truly unique. The château Micault was built in 1726 by Louis XVI's secretary. In 1795 a second château, Marey Monge, was constructed a little further away. This is, hence, the biggest property in the Côte, and also where Napoleon, a friend of the Marey Monge family, used to visit regularly. In 1936 the two properties were bought together by Jean-Louis Laplanche. In 2003 Maurice Giraud became the owner of the Château de Pommard.
