The wine

A half-bottle of Famous Grouse from the 1990s. This was the third blend launched by Matthew Gloag & Sons, in 1897. Since being bought by Highland Distillers (now Edrington) in 1970, it has become one of the highest-selling blends in the world. Glenturret plays an important role in the blend.

The distillery The Famous Grouse

The Famous Grouse was launched in 1896 by Matthew Gloag & Sons. More accessible than the other brands in the group (Brig O’ Perth and The Grouse Brand), it was a resounding success and the brand was registered in 1905. Under the direction of Highland Distillers, who became the owner in 1970, The Famous Grouse was even given its own visitor centre at the Glenturret distillery. It is now owned by the Edrington group.
