The wine

For 239 years, all marines in the Royal Navy received a flask of rum in their daily ration pack in a custom that ended in July 1970, on Black Tot Day. This rum is a blend of rums from the British colonies of Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad, and is simply known as Navy Rum. After Black Tot Day, the remaining stocks were stored in stone jars by the Navy, then sold across the world. After finding traces of part of this stock, the jars’’ contents were blended and bottled in 2010 to mark the 40th anniversary of Black Tot Day.
