A white Rully with a great minerality, produced by an emblematic figure of the appellation who is committed to the principles of organic cultivation. More info
Vincent Dureuil-Janthial is an emblematic figure of the Rully vineyard, and a strong-willed winemaker who is committed to commendable principles borrowed from organic cultivation. This white Rully comes from the eponymous plot called Maizières which is located in the centre of the appellation. The Chardonnay which it is made from is east facing, on a very sunny terroir which assures it optimal ripeness. The vines cover an area of almost 2 hectares and were planted in 1997 then in 2001. They benefit from the influence of the clay soil and their grapes were harvested by hand.
In the cellar, the grapes have undergone direct pressing without being crushed, and static settling. The must was then fermented in barrels with a proportion of new wood of around 20%. The wine was finally matured for a year in barrels and 6 months in vats. The wine was bottled according to the lunar calendar.
Made for a certain cellaring period, the wine has a very appreciable minerality which allows us to consider pairing it with freshwater fish such as trout with almonds. Serve it alongside a regional goats’ cheese or a creamy risotto with green asparagus and salmon.
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial is the icon of Rully. The Dureuil-Janthial family is one of the oldest of the village, where it has been present since the 13th century. Since 1994, Céline and Vincent Dureuil have been in charge. The vineyard extends over 17 hectares, mainly in the Côte Chalonnaise but also in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, all on 20 different appellations. It has been certified in organic farming since 2009 and uses certain biodynamic practices, including respect for the lunar calendar. The work is precise and the élevage in particular has made great progress, producing very fine wines. The entire range is reliable and excellent value.
