The wine

Exshaw No. 1 is a cognac produced from grapes grown in Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru in the appellation, known for its very chalky terroir which produces incredibly elegant cognacs. Exshaw was founded in 1805 by John Exshaw, a merchant who aged his cognacs in France before exporting them to England and, later under his son Thomas-Henri’’s aegis, to the British Empire. The house fell into decline after the Second World War and was eventually bought by Otard in 1975.
