Le domaine Vincent Girardin, désormais racheté et dirigé d'une main de maître en cuverie par Eric Germain produit des vins d'une qualité remarquable, tant en blanc qu'en rouge et signe peut-être le grand renouveau des vins de Bourgogne, affichant un style alliant maturité, pureté du fruit et équilibre, en un mot : émotion.
Le clos-de-vougeot Vieille Vignes est une superbe parcelles de vieilles vignes situées au cœur du Clos de Vougeot, justement. Il affiche, avec justesse, la minéralité propre à ce terroir, la profondeur que les vieilles vignes restituent à la perfection, son élégance, si propre à ce climat sis entre le village de Chambolle-Musigny, d'un côté, et de Vosne-Romanée, de l'autre.
C'est l'un des plus beaux terroirs de toute la Bourgogne et aussi peut-être l'un des plus connus, à la fois pour son château, qui accueille de nombreux événements, mais aussi pour la qualité de son sol, qui s'étend sur 80 hectares et en fait le plus grand grand cru de toute la Côte de Nuits.
Ce vin s'exprime en jeunesse à travers des notes profondes et complexes de fruits rouges et bleus. Il comprend une grande délicatesse, un superbe effet floral, un toucher de bouche délicat et, enfin, une longueur du plus bel effet qui signe l'aura et le prestige retrouvé de ce terroir.
Vincent Girardin comes from a family that has cultivated vines since the 17th century. But the real history of Domaine Vincent Girardin is recent, since it began in 1980 when Vincent Girardin took back the two hectares of vines from his parents (the family have been wine growers since the 17th century) to produce his own wine. He produces wines from environmentally-friendly vineyards (no herbicides or insecticides, natural compost and from local farms, manual harvesting), and in a very natural way. The vineyard now covers 20 hectares, spread over 42 plots, and produces wines from prestigious appellations in the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, Saint Aubin, Santenay, Savigny Les Beaune, Aloxe Corton, Volnay and Pommard). Vincent Girardin had taken his Burgundy trading house to the top since it was founded in 1992. Bought by the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in 2012, the technical team however remained the same, led by Eric Germain from Meursault. The selection of winemakers remains demanding, as is the high quality of the wines. The red wines are supple, fruity and elegant, whilst the whites are fine, pure, bold and lively.
