More info

    The wine

The locality of this appellation is located on the Rhône’s left bank between Orange and Avignon on soil composed of large rounded pebbles which absorb the sun’s heat to then restore it at night. The roots of the vines fulfil their hydraulic needs by drawing from the deep clay banks. They are purified by the Mistral wind which blows strongly and avoids any harmful humidity. Harvesting is done by hand and the berries are carefully sorted. Vinification occurs with punch-down for almost twenty days. In that way, the maximum amount of tannins and coloured substance are extracted. Once malolactic fermentation has been done, ageing begins (one part in 228-litre Burgundy pièces and the other part in vats). The wines are then carefully chosen and blended before being bottled and rest for almost six months at the domain before being marketed. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape of Château Mont-Redon can be enjoyed when young, on the fruit, but wait for it to reach its full potential after eight years.

    Information about domain Château Mont-Redon

The origins of Château Mont-Redon date back to the 14th century when it belonged to Domaine Episcopal. Taken over in the 17th century by the aristocrat Joseph Ignace d'Astier, it then passed into the hands of Henri Plantin in 1923 who planted vines on the vast plateau. As the domaine passed down through the family, it expanded. The 4th generation of the family now run the domaine that now spans no less than 186 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The business also own two additional domaines, one in Côtes-du-Rhône and one in Lirac.
