Domain: Tenuta di Biserno

After propelling wines from la Tenuta d'Ornellaia to stratospheric heights, Ludovico Antinori discovered Biserno in 1995, and embarked on a new venture. Located on the west coast of Tuscany in the heart of Bibbona hills, Tenuta di Biserno is a 49-hectare domaine near the village of Bolgheri. The vines grow on soil which drains well, as it is rich in minerals, limestone and stones. Bordeaux grape varieties are cultivated, as is the case in many domaines in the region. They include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Yields are controlled, and limited to 1kg per plant. This is the equivalent of one bottle per plant.
