Domain: Prion

Domaine de Prion is managed by Guillaume Chanudet who represents the estate's fifth generation. This young man has at his feet a domain founded a century ago, in 1920, that today spans 5 hectares. The property carries an imprint of the natural movement led by local pioneers like Yvon Métras. It isn't surprising, therefore, to see that the sixty-year-old vines are grown in an eco-friendly way. The grapes are also harvested by hand and vinified with little intervention. Fermentation is brought about by indigenous yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration is preferred to produce flavourful wines with good texture. Vinification begins in concrete vats and the wine then matures in stainless steel. Last but not least, these cuvées have very little, if any, sulphur added to them. Guillaume Chanudet is a young and dynamic producer to follow closely, especially if you're a fan of easy-drinking, ripe wines with velvety tannins and a seductive nose.
