Scotland, Speyside. Distillery closed.
The name Ben Wyvis is historically associated with that of Ferintosh, a distillery in the Northern Highlands (Black Isle) which was founded in 1879, closed in 1926 and then dismantled in 1993. Up until 1893, it was known as Ben Wyvis. The name reappeared in 1965 when Invergordon Distillers Ltd created a small malt whisky production unit named Ben Wyvis on the site of the Invergordon grain distillery (Northern Highlands). It was, however, closed in 1976 and then demolished in 1977. Only a few official and independent bottlings from 1972 and 1965 remain from this very short period of production. A very rare 10 year old official version also exists.
