Domain: Damoiseau

Rhum Agricole, Guadeloupe. Distillery operational. Owner: Damoiseau. Independent & family-owned.

It was in 1942 that the story of the Damoiseau distillery began. In the midst of the Second World War, Roger Damoiseau bought the Bellevue estate in Moule (Guadeloupe), along with its distillery, which had closed in 1920. He found a site completely abandoned and covered in vegetation. It was not until 1947 that it began producing rum from the juice of hand-cut local sugar cane, a method the distillery continues to use today. Whether from independent bottlers or the distillery itself, Damoiseau rum bottlings are highly sought after, from the Damoiseau 1953 bottled in 1984 (a blend of vesou and molasses rum) to the Velier 1980 vintage.
