Medley’‘s, which was created by John Medley in the early 19th century, is a brand of bourbon produced in Owensboro, Kentucky. John Medley was the descendant of a Catholic Englishman who arrived in the United States with a still in his cases in 1634. Business was good despite a fire in 1911 and Medley survived Prohibition by producing whisky for the American Medicinal Spirits Company. The company thrived in the years following the war, but the distillery was closed in 1992. Some of the brands it produced, sometimes on behalf of other companies, were bought by the Sazerac group.
