1984 was an average quality vintage, resulting in weak wines with very little complexity. The Côte-Rôtie wines are highly tannic and not very fruity. The Hermitage reds are light and refined. The richer whites offer more flair. The Cornas are rarely successful, only slightly full-bodied and angular. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas wines are of average quality, with little to no interest.
