About the domain
The name of the Domaine Leflaive will long remain associated with its famous ambassador Anne-Claude who, with the energy of the pioneers, converted the domaine to biodynamics between 1993 and 1997. The Leflaive family has lived in Puligny since 1717. But it was the genius of a marine engineer, a student of the Ecole Polytéchnique,which was needed to revive an area devastated by phylloxera. After participating in the design of the first French submarine, Joseph Leflaive returned to his native village, replanted and raised the profile of the domaine’s wines well beyond the French borders. The third generation, Olivier and his cousin Anne-Claude, ensured that the domaine was at the heights of Burgundian hierarchy. Tasting the domaine’s wines is a unique experience for any wine lover. The special attention paid to the vineyard and to the winemaking allows its particularly rich wines to reveal all the subtleties of the different Burgundian terroirs. Montrachet, Batârd, Chevalier, Bienvenues-Bâtard and the premier crus Folatières or Pucelles are wines with fundamentally different identities. These are rare cuvées, which every wine lover should taste at least once!
About the cuvée
The wines are vinified and élevaged in accordance with Burgundian tradition: long natural fermentations in oak barrels, lees stirring until winter, followed by two years in the cellar. Equilibrium, structure and expression of the local terroir are the watchwords for the wines from this exceptional domaine, whose prestige extends well beyond France itself. Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is in some ways reminiscent of its big brother, Montrachet, while revealing less richness but perhaps more refinement. It offers an array of noble, very sophisticated aromas: marzipan, fern, exotic fruits, amber, white flowers. In the mouth, its acidity is somewhat understated, expressing an intense mellowness and an impressive persistence.

Evironmentally friendly : The «environmentally friendly» designation refers to estates practising environmentally friendly wine-growing techniques, but that have not opted for certification or who are still in the process of converting to organic agriculture or biodynamics. These estates may have adopted biodynamic principles (non-certified) or simply no longer use chemical products. This designation applies to recent vintages.
Natural : Wines which are produced without any added sulfur (or almost any) and with no other inputs. However, given that there is no official body to issue the natural wine label, it is based on winemakers’ statements. This designation applies to recent vintages.
