Poderi Atha Ruja, which is located in north-eastern Sardinia, is a family-run domaine established by Pietro Pittalis and Annita Salis. Iconic local grape varieties such as Cannonau di Sardegna, Carignano and Muristellu are grown on five hectares. Today, the reins are gradually being taken over by their children, Manuela, Teresa and Eugenio.
About the cuvée
This wine is a single-variety Cannonau (Grenache) which has undergone a ten-month élevage in stainless steel tanks (90%) and 500-litre barrels (10%) for nearly a year. Once blended, the wine is left to rest for a further three months in bottles before being sold. It is best at an age of between 6 and 8 years, which gives it time to unveil its full generosity and power. Its aromatic complexity is expressed through notes of humus, undergrowth and game.
