A family business since its creation in 1797, Louis Latour is one of the most recognised traders/ famers in Burgundy. It has remained a family enterprise for over two centuries and is thus part of the closed circle of the Henokiens. It is now Louis-Fabrice Latour, representative of the 11th generation who is at its head. The Louis Latour house gradually formed a vast domaine, extending from Chambertin to Chevalier-Montrachet: 48 hectares, 28 in grand crus. It cultivates Pinot Noir for its reds and Chardonnay for its whites. Over the last thirty years, the company has also spread in the Ardèche, in the Var and in the Pierres Dorées region, also producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Maison is committed to a more ecologically friendly and respectful terroir by adopting responsible and sustainable agriculture (limitation of pesticides, compost and ploughing of certain parcels).
About the cuvée
The grapes that produced this wine come from some of the best parcels of Maison Latour and Burgundy. The grapes come from the Côte Chalonnaise, but also from the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet - where the berries are reputed to give roundness and density to the wine -, Puligny-Montrachet - the chardonnay brings finesse and minerality to the cuvée - and finally Meursault (the third musketeer of this winning trio) - to which we owe both the wonderful tension and density. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on a predominantly limestone soil. They have a yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare, and the grapes are harvested by hand.
Once in the vat room, malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. The cuvée is then matured for eight to ten months in stainless steel vats, demonstrating all the expertise in vinification and ageing that Maison Louis Latour is known for.
The colour of this Burgundy is a beautiful light red shade with almost green reflections. This wine delivers striking, fresh, and lively citrus aromas. A touch of richness and roundness gives structure. Serve at approximately 12 degrees in the next two or three years with high quality charcuterie. This wine showcases the best of Burgundy while remaining affordable.
