Mee Godard

A new rising star shines on Morgon, one of the finest Beaujolais Crus. Inspired by the natural wine movement in the region, the winemaker Mee Godard produces sensuous, complex and deep wines, the result of meticulous labour in the vines as much as in the cellar. This winemaker will go very far, taking with her that of Beaujolais.

Originally from South Korea, Mee Godard can't claim to have wine in her blood. Her ancestors were certainly not winemakers but her adoptive parents encouraged her to spread her wings in the viticultural industry. So armed with several degrees in biology, biochemistry and oenology, Mee Godard acquired a few hectares of vines in Beaujolais, a region she is fond of for the beauty of its landscapes. It was on Morgon that she set her sights in 2013 before falling in love with some other beautiful vines in Moulin-à-Vent in 2016. There, inspired by the local tenets of the natural wine movement, she forged ahead in producing deep, dense, elegant and lively wines with splendid freshness thanks to an organic growth and Burgundian vinification. One thing is certain, this woman will go far, bringing the future of Beaujolais with her. She is definitely one to watch.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE

The Godard style is one of pure wines, never sterile, airy but structured, which all ooze a sense of their origin. Add to this a delicacy that perhaps lacked in her first vintages and which proves to be the key to her superb 2017.
