About the Producer Château Brane-Cantenac
The origins of Château Brane-Cantenac date back to the 19th century when Baron de Brane, known as the Napoleon of the vines, acquired Château Gorce in 1833 A winegrowing pioneer, he recognized the reputation and potential of this exceptional terroir, located on Cantenac's finest slopes, and devoted all his energy and fortune to developing it. In 1838, to leave his mark on the property, he renamed it Brane-Cantenac. The château was named a Deuxième Grand Cru in 1855. The Lurton family bought this prestigious property in 1925, and with the passing generations has maintained the delicate, complex, aromatic style for which Brane-Cantenac is known.
The château produces a First Growth, second wine called “Baron de Brane” and a third wine called “Château Notton”. The wines are known for their finesse, their lovely fruit flavours and their classic Margaux style.
