Baron de Brane, known as the Napoleon of the vines, acquired Château Gorce in 1833. A winegrowing pioneer, he recognized the reputation and potential of this exceptional terroir, located on Cantenac's finest slopes, and devoted all his energy and fortune to developing it. In 1838, to leave his mark on the property, he renamed it Brane-Cantenac”.The Lurton family bought this prestigious property in 1925, and with the passing generations has maintained the delicate, complex, aromatic style for which Brane-Cantenac is known. Château Brane Cantenac's second wine, Baron de Brane comes from young vines (about 25 years old). It is aged for 12 months in barrels (30% of new barrels). Blackberry, blackcurrant and floral notes are in its bouquet. The mouth is ample, round, generous and the tannins are fine, the lot is flamboyant.
