A reflection of Scotch whisky’’s richness and diversity, the Artist Collective range covers a wide variety of styles, maturations and regions in small batches selected every year from around a hundred samples. Even more ambitious than previous editions, this sixth collection is composed of eight Speyside, Highland and Islay single malts distilled between 2008 and 2013. Artist Collective creates a connection between the spirits world and the art world, revealing a new graphic identity every year. This new opus features a change of course from previous editions and is illustrated by just one artist, painter Yanis Khannoussi. Born in 1996 and a 2021 Fine Arts graduate, he is the author of Diptyques Idéographiques, a collection of minimalist paintings depicting abstract symbols. “These ideograms retrace a very conscious and controlled movement I wanted to remember,” Khannoussi explains. Built around the concept of duality, the series pairs eight paintings in pop colours that contrast their black and white versions. The Diptyques also create contrast through their texture and presentation. The colour versions, which are designed to be presented on walls, have a creamy, thick surface created from a mixture of oils, acrylics and mediums, while the smooth and shiny black and white paintings are designed to be placed on the ground. In a first for the range, the artist decided which expressions should be paired with which paintings during a tasting with the specialists at La Maison du Whisky. Pairing its colours with the aroma and flavour profile of each version, the collection invites tasters to discover these eight expressions through the artist’’s eye and palate.

This lot features one bottle of each of the eight expressions selected for the Artist Collective 6.0 range and the original Diptyque Idéographique I artwork used to illustrate the label of the Caol Ila 2013 in the same collection. (97 x 130 cm ; 89 x 116 cm)
