Donated by the Warenghem distillery
A pioneer in the history of French whisky, the Brittany-based Warenghem distillery has made Armorik a leading name among France’’s malt producers.
This exceptional lot features a collection of 2002 vintages composed of five single malts matured in a sherry butt and released one by one in a cask strength single cask bottling every year from 2012 to 2016.
From the 10 Year Old released in 2012 to the 14 Year Old bottled in 2016 named Gilles Leizour in tribute to the distillery’’s director (1981-2016), Armorik offers an opportunity to explore the different effects ageing and time have had on these five “twin” casks.
The collection is presented with a cask head signed by Gilles Leizour and the distillery’’s current director David Roussier.

The distillery Warenghem

The Warenghem distillery was founded in 1900 in Lannion by Léon Warenghem, originally to produce the plant liqueur Elix d’‘Armorique. In 1919, Henri Warenghem took over from his father and expanded the range to include other liqueurs. Gilles Leizour then took over the distillery in 1981 and focused production on regional spirits like chouchen. He was also responsible for distillation of France’‘s first whisky (a blend) in 1983 and its release in 1987 under the name WB (Whisky Breton). In 1993 he built a whisky distillery based on Scottish production methods. Its first single malt was released in 1998 under the name Armorik.
