This single cask 2003 vintage matured first in bourbon casks and then in cognac casks is named after Grégory Vernant-Neisson’’s son, Sacha, who was born in 2003.
Bottled at cask strength in 2018, its aromas at times evoke a superb American rye whiskey or even a cognac with floral accents from the Petite Champagne terroir. Bolstered by these primary influences, it is simply all the more authentic. Indeed, as the tasting progresses, it brilliantly stages notes of sugar cane that act as the backbone for the palette of flavours and aromas.
Originally composed of 540 decanters, the Sacha series features five drawings of animals from artist Philippe Baudelocque, who previously worked with the brand to create the current label for Neisson’’s 52% Rhum Bio and to mark Neisson trailblazing commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
The single bottle presented in this lot, which is illustrated with a drawing of a seahorse, has never before been released for sale in France. Sourced from Grégory Neisson’’s personal collection, it is signed by Philippe Baudelocque and presented in a stunning case created especially for Neisson by the modern trunk-maker T.T.Trunks.
The incredible design behind this bright leather ensemble makes the rum all the more enticing and means the rum can be transported anywhere along with three Neisson tasting glasses, a set of dominoes and a small cigar box.

The distillery Neisson

The Neisson distillery was founded in Carbet by the Neisson brothers in 1932. Jean, who was a trained chemical engineer, was committed to improving distillation techniques, as was reflected by the installation of the distillery’‘s Savalle still, originally built in 1938 and modified by Jean himself. The estate remains in family hands and is today run by Claudine and her son Grégory. In 2013, the estate began gradually converting to organic farming, supported by research into different cane varieties, plots and agricultural techniques. Neisson is rightly considered one of Martinique’‘s most innovative and ambitious distilleries. Neisson rum is instantly recognizable by the signature Zepol’‘Karé bottle with square shoulders.
