Schottland, nördliche Highlands. Aktive Destillerie Eigentümer: Diageo.

Clynelish wurde 1967 auf dem Gelände ihrer berühmten Schwester Clynelish#1 (seit 1969 Brora) gegründet. Im Juni 1968 wurde die Produktion aufgenommen. Dank der hochmodernen Anlagen konnte Brora die Produktion verdreifachen. Wie bei Caol Ila, seinem getorften Gegenstück von der Insel Islay, floß der größte Teil der Produktion in den Blend Johnnie Walker. Erst 1994 wurde die erste offizielle Version in der Reihe Rare Malts Selection als Jahrgangs-Whisky mit hohem Alkoholgehalt (Clynelish 1972, 23 Jahre, 63 Vol.-%) abgefüllt. Es folgten der Clynelish 14 Jahre mit 43 Vol.-% in der Flora & Fauna-Reihe und schließlich ein Flora & Fauna Cask Strength (Jahrgang 1982) im Jahr 1997. In den 80er und 90er Jahren wurde Clynelish selten und nur noch in geringer Zahl abgefüllt. Den Abfüllern Gordon & MacPhail, Cadenhead und Signatory Vintage ist es zu verdanken, dass weitere Jahrgangs-Whiskys oder länger gereifte Versionen als Small Batch oder Single Cask auf den Markt kamen: Clynelish 12 Jahre Orange Label Gordon & MacPhail, Clynelish 28 Jahre 1971 Signatory Vintage und Clynelish 1972 Cask Strength Cadenhead.
