Housed in a former limestone quarry in Canterbury, Bell Hill Vineyard produces biodynamic Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs of remarkable precision, among the most sought-after in New Zealand.

Bell Hill Vineyard was founded in 1997 by Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen, in the Weka Pass region, north of Canterbury. The vineyard, located on a former limestone quarry, extends over 3.2 hectares and follows a Burgundian-inspired model, with high-density planting and vines trained close to the ground. This limestone terroir gives their Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs a mineral structure, precise acidity and tannins suitable for ageing. Bell Hill Vineyard follows organic and biodynamic viticulture, with BioGro organic certification. In the cellar, vinificationis intended to promote the expression of terroir: cultivated yeasts, added tannins, enzymes, glues and others oenological meddling has been discarded. The wines are sought after for their purity, tension and depth, in a delicate, precise and highly gastronomic style.
