Laphroaig è una delle rare distillerie che è riuscita a suscitare grande clamore tra i collezionisti, e ciò con un’unica espressione del suo single malt: il Laphroaig 10 anni. Certamente, dalla fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale i suoi imbottigliamenti sono stati numerosi e molto diversi da un mercato all'altro. Il suo stile molto torbato ha saputo evolversi in funzione delle barrique utilizzate per l’invecchiamento (sherry/bourbon). La gradazione, compresa tra il 40% e il 60% per le versioni cask strength, favorisce una caratteristica del suo profilo a scapito di un’altra. Ma si tratta comunque di Laphroaig 10 anni, con una tradizione di ormai 70 anni. Questa espressione da sola rappresenta una collezione a sé stante, tanto numerosi furono gli importatori e le varie etichette: Filippi Fausto, Bonfanti, Cinzano, R.H.Elsbach & Co, Carlton Import, ecc... Ma Laphroaig vuol dire anche superbe annate, come il 1960, il 1974, il 1976, il 1977, il 1980 e il 1981, nonché le versioni invecchiate da 15 a 40 anni. In pratica, un universo a sé.
