Tenuta: Midleton

Situata nella contea di Cork, Midleton è la più grande distilleria d’Irlanda. Fu fondata nel 1825 dai fratelli James, Daniel e Jeremiah Murphy. Nel 1966 i gruppi Jameson, Powers e Cork Distillers si fusero dando vita alla società Irish Distillers. Nel 1975 le distillerie Powers e Jameson furono chiuse e una nuova distilleria fu aperta accanto a Midleton per centralizzare e ottimizzare la produzione dei diversi brand. L’antica distilleria fu chiusa a sua volta, e per un po’ di tempo Midleton fu l’unica d’Irlanda, prima dell’apertura due anni più tardi di Cooley. L’accento cade quindi sul blend Jameson a scapito dei Single Pot Still, che sono tornati progressivamente in auge negli ultimi anni.
