2002 produzierte Jim McEwan, der Brennmeister von Bruichladdich, mit Octomore den am stärksten getorften Whisky der Welt. Mit ihm erweiterte er die Palette der ungetorften (Bruichladdich) und stark getorften (Port Charlotte) Whiskys. Octomore zeichnet sich durch eine außergewöhnliche Konzentration an Phenolen und einen innovativen Ansatz beim Blending und der Reifung aus.
