The ruby-red appearance of this Marsannay presents superb notes of black berries and white pepper. Juicy, intense and deep, this meaty wine reveals firm, delicate tannins and an elegant, persistent finish; attributes which both make for an unbelievably classy wine. To produce this wine – which uses grapes from vines between 60 and 80 years old, cultivated organically and biodynamically – Sylvain Pataille uses natural vinification processes, with native yeasts. The wine is then matured in barrels (35% new wood) on fine lees for nearly a year and a half.

His "L'Ancestrale" cuvée was classified as a grand cru, due to the exceptional length on the palate. Sylvain Pataille studied enology in Bordeaux, but it is Burgundy whose land he defends with all his heart. He has been certified in organic farming since 2008
