Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Dominique Lafon 2023

This Grand Cru comes from sustainably farmed plots on the steep, south-east-facing slopes of Corton-Charlemagne, where limestone soils contribute to an exceptional terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested before being gently pressed in whole bunches. Both alcoholic fermentation and full malolactic fermentation take place in cask.
The wine is then aged for 8 to 10 months in new French oak casks before being transferred to stainless-steel vats for a further six months. This final stage brings greater harmony to the wine while preserving the expression of its terroir.
The wine displays a pale lemon-yellow hue, while the still-restrained nose gradually reveals notes of ripe apple, peach and wet stone. The palate is broad, dense and almost creamy in texture, underpinned by impressive mineral depth. The rich, concentrated substance needs time to integrate and gain definition. This Corton-Charlemagne has impressive depth and remarkable ageing potential.
