Chinon Coteau de Noiré Philippe Alliet 2015

La «cuvée»

Produced on the Côteau de Noiré, Domaine Philippe Alliet’s Chinon is exquisitely refined with silky and delicate tannins, a delightful and elegant velvet texture, and excellent length. As the vineyard is fully south-facing, in sunny years the wine is dark with candied notes but retains an astonishing fresh fruitiness.

Philippe and his wife Claude have been at the helm of Domaine Alliet since 1978. The domain's 17 hectares of vines are planted in the communes of Chinon and Cravant-les-Coteaux; some of the plants are 70 years old. The property owns some superbly located parcels, especially on the Coteau de Noiré, boasting slopes, clay and chalk-rich soil, and a fully south-facing exposure. Philippe Alliet cultivates his vines sustainably and places considerable importance on carefully controlling yields. The wines produced here are benchmarks in the Loire Valley and fly the flag for Cabernet Franc grape with their astonishing freshness, precision and verve. The entire range is truly remarkable. Today, Philippe and Claude Alliet have been joined on the domain by their son Pierre.
