Más informaciónThis Tawny Port is a blend of wines from different years, each averaging 10 years. The wines used to produce this port were aged in medium-sized oak casks (550 litres) in the cellars of the famous town of Vila Nova de Gaia. This Douro terroir consists of schist, with vineyards located in Vinha da Pisca, Vale do Pinhão and Ferrão. It is a blend of old vines (over 60 years old) of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. Alcoholic fermentation is conducted in lagares (traditional presses) and the berries are crushed by foot.
This port reveals a deep, intense golden colour with hints of orange in the light. The bouquet exudes notes of candied fruit, dried apricots and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is voluptuous and offers a tremendous finish. This wine is the perfect companion for strong cheeses, desserts or lamb curries.

Once he took over the family domain in 1987, Niepoort set himself the great challenge of growing his own vines, whilst his family had always bought grapes from elsewhere. This was a success: his dry wines are now as sought-after as his Port. Why? They are especially classy, with a surprising finesse for the region.
