The Sadie family is a South-African family-owned domain, created by Eben Sadie, who also co-created the beautiful winery Terroir Al Limit in Priorat, Spain.

Driven by a passion for terroir and the conviction that wine is primarily made in the vineyard, he continues to explore his homeland, showcasing South Africa’s winemaking heritage. Eben also travels the ‘Old World’, visiting top estates in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Burgundy. He even ventures to Oregon, seeking to understand what it is about the wines there that captivate him and how they differ from the nectars of his homeland.

Situated in the Swatland region, The Sadie Family produces grapes from the region thanks to 48 parcels spread over 43 hectares, cultivated according to biodynamic principles, and with low yields. Passionate about the terroir, Eben Sadie believes that wine is made in the vineyard and so he continues to explore the land around him, while bring South African wines to the world. The domain is one of the finest in South Africa.

Swartland Columella is one of the domain’s top cuvées, raised for 12 months in French oak barrels, then for 12 months in oval casks. It offers wonderful aromas of red fruits, with notes of violet. On the palate, the texture is truly silky and there is a nice balance with some freshness.
