Compass Box is unique in the world of whisky. Founded in 2000, it is a small independent company specializing in the blending of whiskies bought from large producers. Compass Box has made this its speciality, becoming a master in its fields of blended malts, blended grains and blended whisky, with each category represented in its portfolio. Compass Box Three Year Old takes a dig at British and European rules that allow only the age of the youngest whisky in the blend to be mentioned on the label. In this case, only 1% of the blend was aged for three years, with the rest made up of much older malts from Clynelish and Talisker. The whisky was matured in first-fill American oak casks. A limited edition of 3,282 bottles.
